My name is Ruth, and I am the owner and artist here. I am a passionate creative from Nairobi, Kenya, currently residing in Birmingham, Alabama. I started Ruth Oneya Illustrations while in college in 2016. I take pride in creating beautiful commission-based art pieces in my studio and capturing memorable moments live at weddings.
HOW IT STARTED
Ruth is a passionate creative from Nairobi, Kenya currently residing in Birmingham, Alabama. Her journey as an artist began at the age of 15 when she found solace in art, a perfect escape from boredom.
Self-taught and investing the time to learn the art of business, she honed her skills and started Ruth Oneya Illustrations while in college in 2016. Since then she has been focusing on creating beautiful commission-based art pieces at her home studio and capturing memorable moments live at weddings. She is also a well established graphic designer which allows her to create wedding invitations and much more.
Aside from art, Ruth enjoys all kinds of foods, photography, traveling, and being a self-proclaimed plant lady.
I was born and raised there until 2007, when my family and I got the opportunity to move to the United States. Only a couple of years before I began my journey as an artist in 2009 where I found solace in art, the perfect escape from boredom. While in high school and college, I took all the art classes I could take to familiarize myself with different mediums and tools. Drawing and painting every chance that I got. After an internship with a photographer Alisha, I took the time to learn the art of business, took a dive at something that I didn't imagine being my career . and started Ruth Oneya Illustrations while in college in 2016. I took pride on creating beautiful commission-based art pieces in the dorms and but after graduation, I found myself feeling unsatisfied with my career as a graphic designer. Aside from art, Ruth enjoys all kinds of foods, photography, traveling, and being a self-proclaimed plant lady.
